Patriots' Davon Godchaux Says Aaron Rodgers 'Don't Look the Same' After Jets' Loss

Andrew PetersOct 27, 2024

Aaron Rodgers, the oldest player in the NFL, isn't the same MVP-caliber quarterback he once was—at least according to one recent opponent.

After the New York Jets' loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, defensive lineman Davon Godchaux pointed out Rodgers' decline.

"Hall of Fame quarterback. Hate to see him go out that way," Godchaux said, per MassLive's Mark Daniels. "He definitely don't look the same. He kept moving back there — s--t I could run him down and catch him. He don't look mobile at all. That's good for us."

Despite what Godchaux had to say about Rodgers, he's holding his own at 40 years old. He had 233 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns on Sunday, though that wasn't enough for the Jets to get past the Patriots as they lost 23-30.

Rodgers ranks inside the top 10 in passing yards this season with 1,896 to go along with his 12 touchdowns.

The main area where Rodgers has lost a step has been on the ground. Once a solid scrambler, Rodgers has just 44 yards on the ground this season and mostly stays in the pocket, though that's to be expected of a player who's been around for a while.

Though Rodgers has had a decent season, the Jets' struggles continued on Sunday. After picking up wins in Weeks 2 and 3, New York has lost five consecutive games and gave the Patriots just their second win of the season.

The Jets acquired star receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders two weeks ago, but he hasn't made much of a difference thus far with just 30 receiving yards last week and 54 on Sunday.

Over the last month, New York has brought in Adams and parted ways with head coach Robert Saleh, but neither move has produced wins so far and the Jets are still trending towards missing the playoffs yet again.
