Texans' Stefon Diggs to Be Evaluated After Non-Contact Knee Injury vs. Colts

The Houston Texans are already without wide receiver Nico Collins and now have another injury concern at the position.

After being ruled out for the end of Houston's 23-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, receiver Stefon Diggs will be further evaluated after suffering a non-contact knee injury.

"Unfortunate to see Stef go down there. He's being evaluated for a knee," head coach DeMeco Ryans said, per ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime. "We'll find out further information as the week goes on."

Diggs grabbed his knee and went down with a non-contact injury and went straight to the locker room after he left the field.

Fortunately for the Texans, they still came away with the victory.

Diggs was Houston's leading receiver when he exited the game with five catches for 81 yards and was playing an even more important role than usual because Collins is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

The Texans traded for the four-time Pro Bowler this offseason with the hope he could help them take the next step and become a true Super Bowl contender in the AFC.

And there aren't many rosters with more offensive firepower on paper than the AFC South one with C.J. Stroud, Collins, Diggs, Tank Dell and Joe Mixon, among others, but injuries have been a concern. Mixon has also missed time, and now there are serious questions at wide receiver.

If Diggs is sidelined for a significant amount of time, Dell will become the go-to option in the aerial attack.

Houston will also need Xavier Hutchinson, John Metchie III and Robert Woods to play larger roles than initially thought at the start of the season, at least until Collins is ready to return.

Next up for the Texans is a road game against the New York Jets before a difficult back-to-back against the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys, so the wide receivers will be under the spotlight in those contests.
