Lakers' JJ Redick Reacts to Baron Davis Revealing He Watched NBA Film at Car Wash
Maybe more NBA head coaches should watch film at car washes considering JJ Redick's Los Angeles Lakers are off to a 3-0 start this season.
Former NBA point guard Baron Davis turned heads Saturday when he revealed on social media that he saw Redick reviewing film at a car wash:
"It's the circumstance of the back-to-back," Redick told reporters when discussing why he was doing so. "Basically, I spent last night and this morning on tying the bow from last night's game and a little bit looking forward to today. This morning, it was no different."
The coach also said the car wash was next door to where his two sons had basketball games on Saturday, so it was the easiest location.
"Very efficient use of time," he said. "I watch a lot of film, but that's not normal, no. Thanks, Baron."
The film session worked, as the Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings 131-127 just one day after beating the Phoenix Suns 123-116 on Friday. They also handled the Minnesota Timberwolves in Tuesday's season opener.
Minnesota, Phoenix and Sacramento are three potential Western Conference contenders, so these head-to-head victories are sure to resonate for the Purple and Gold as they battle for playoff positioning later in the season.
They also sent quite the message after Los Angeles settled for the play-in tournament in each of the last two seasons after missing the postseason entirely in 2021-22.
Redick has his team playing at a high level right out of the gates, and a healthy Lakers squad looks like one that can compete deep into the postseason. And those playoff games would surely inspire some additional film sessions, perhaps even in a car wash.
