Quinn Ewers Throws 3 TDs as Texas Thrills Fans in Win over Vandy After Georgia Loss

After a 30-15 loss to Georgia in Week 8, the Texas Longhorns needed a rebound.

It earned a 27-24 victory over Vanderbilt to accomplish this, although it was a bit too close for comfort.

The Commodores grabbed momentum early after snagging an interception from Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers. Vanderbilt would turn this into a touchdown moments later and had Texas on upset watch.

That's when the Longhorns returned fire, scoring three consecutive touchdowns before a field goal in the final seconds from the Commodores made it 21-10 at the half.

The Longhorns re-established the 14-point lead with a field goal but a Vanderbilt touchdown brought the Commodores to within seven. However, multiple interceptions and another field goal sealed the victory for the Longhorns.

Texas' defense forced three turnovers and limited the Commodores to just 261 total yards. Quintrevion Wisner was the Longhorns leading rusher with 79 yards on 17 carries while DeAndre Moore was the top receiver with six catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns.

Ewers went 27-of-37 for 288 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. While it wasn't a perfect day, it was still an improved performance that should bode well for the rest of the season.

Fans took to social media to hype up Ewers and the Longhorns' redemption performance.

Surviving the Commodores was a huge plus for the Longhorns, as Vanderbilt knocked off then No. 1 Alabama earlier in the month and entered the game at No. 25 in the nation.

Texas has four games remaining in the regular season, with Texas A&M being the only opponent that is currently ranked. If the Longhorns can finish the season strong, they will have a very good case to make the College Football Playoff.
