NFL Rumors: Bears Have Prepared for Marcus Mariota at QB amid Jayden Daniels' Injury
The Chicago Bears are prepared for Marcus Mariota if the Washington Commanders give him the start in Week 8.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported that the Bears have "operated" with the thought that Mariota, not rookie Jayden Daniels, will be the Commanders starting quarterback on Sunday. Daniels suffered a rib injury in Week 7 and his status has not yet been determined for Week 8.
"The Bears have operated this week as though Mariota would be the likely starter," Jones wrote. "Sources say they view the offense as being similar no matter the quarterback, though Daniels offers a more dynamic option with both his feet and legs."

Mariota entered in relief of Daniels in the Commanders' 40-7 Week 7 victory over the Carolina Panthers and showed a strong grasp of the offense. He went 18-of-23 for 205 yards and two touchdowns while also adding 34 rushing yards on 11 carries.
Daniels participated in team drills on Friday but did not do any individual drills. Jones reported that the Commanders "want to make sure he can play like his usual dynamic self while also protecting himself from further injury," so a cautious approach could be the expected path.
Chicago will need to be prepared for whoever starts at the position, but Mariota appears to be the likely answer. Regardless, Washington will likely not change the offense too much, so the Bears should be in a solid spot.
The matchup is set to kick off at 4:25 on Sunday.
