Video: Lakers' LeBron James Says He'll 'Never Forget' Sharing Court with Bronny

Doric SamOct 23, 2024

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has created countless memories over his legendary career, but sharing the floor with his son Bronny during the team's 110-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Tuesday's season opener is one that stands out from the rest.

"That moment, us being at the scorer's table together and checking in together, something I will never forget," LeBron said in their joint postgame news conference. "No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment."

LeBron and Bronny became the first father-son duo in NBA history to appear in a game together when they checked in together with 4:00 left in the second quarter. The elder James had started Tuesday's game but reentered the game off the bench alongside his son for the historic moment.

Bronny, who was playing in his first career NBA game, said sharing the floor with his dad made it even more memorable.

"I tried not to focus on everything that was going on around me and tried to focus on going in as a rookie and not trying to mess up," Bronny said. "But yeah, I totally did feel the energy, and I appreciate the Laker Nation for showing the support for me and my dad."

The two of them almost had a moment that would've sent the crowd at Crypto.com Arena into a frenzy when LeBron passed the ball to Bronny on the wing for a wide-open three-pointer, but the 20-year-old's shot didn't drop.

"We wanted that three to go in," Anthony Davis said. "Bron threw it to him, and we wanted, obviously, for that to go in. But just looking at them checking in at the same time at the scorer's table, it gave me like a little chills."

Bronny went scoreless in his NBA debut and grabbed one rebound, while his dad had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists in the win. Davis led the way with 36 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks.

While there are more memories to be made for the James family, they are surely thankful that this one came in a winning effort.

"This is the first time we had a LeBron moment that was something huge and we won," Davis said, referring to career milestones the 39-year-old had reached that came during losses. "Every other thing we've always lost, so it kind of kills the moment. But it was a special moment for everybody."
