Jey Uso Screwed by WWE, Seth Rollins Must Lose at Crown Jewel and More Raw Takes

Kevin BergeOct 22, 2024

Jey Uso faced the wrath of The Bloodline, making the October 21 edition of WWE Raw an important night.

Bron Breakker capture the Intercontinental Championship once again, though it was only thanks to Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.

Monday's show also saw the latest chapter in the explosive rivalry of Seth Rollins and Bronson Reed, as Mr. Nice Guy destroyed security and an announce table to get to The Visionary.

In the World Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contenders' Tournament, Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee defeated The Creed Brothers to advance, and The New Day survived The Authors of Pain but only with the help of The Wyatt Sicks.

The red brand continued to push forward with its biggest stories on the road to Crown Jewel.

WWE Blew It With Jey Uso's 28-Day Title Reign

1 of 4

Jey Uso won the Intercontinental Championship 28 days ago in a moment that felt rewarding for those that had committed to his singles journey.

However, that cathartic moment has lost some of its luster after a reign that ended in less than a month, pushing Main Event right back into the Bloodline drama.

Since Jey is no longer a champion, he lacks ties to Raw and is most likely going to move fully back to SmackDown for a Bloodline story that is more interesting worked across brands.

The only things accomplished in his title reign were a singular moment diminished by time and the chance for him to stand next to his family with the championship.

The 39-year-old may now be labeled a former intercontinental titleholder, but he is too popular to be a mere footnote in a championship history.

Bron Breakker does make more sense as a long-term intercontinental champion, though his second reign is likely to reinforce the idea he never should have lost the gold in the first place.

Bronson Reed Must Beat Seth Rollins

2 of 4

Bronson Reed has done the work to elevate his station in WWE, but he needs credibility to be a true monster heel.

That credibility comes from picking up memorable wins. He is set for the biggest match of his career against Seth Rollins, but all signs point to a loss.

However, a victory at Crown Jewel on November 2 would mean so much more.

Even if The Visionary gets his win back in a rematch, an initial victory over Rollins would be a resume-builder for Reed.

Mr. Nice Guy can move from that to a feud with another star he can beat and build momentum all the way to WrestleMania season.

It's Time to Push LWO

3 of 4

Rey Mysterio does not have many years left as he pushes 50 years old, and his last focus in WWE should be to build the next big lucha libre stars in the company.

Dragon Lee is the chosen heir apparent to Rey, but he hardly had the spotlight necessary to take over for The Master of the 619.

LWO has consistently worked around The Judgment Day, but it may be time for the feud to take center stage in the tag team division.

If Rey and Dragon were to take the WWE World Tag Team Championships from Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh, the two luchadors could show their value working together all the way to WrestleMania season.

The tag team division needs a better defined team as champions, and LWO fits the bill.

This can hopefully also lead to more work and a stronger spotlight for Zelina Vega, who has floundered since the biggest match of her career at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico.

WWE Must Commit to Weekly Wyatt Sicks Segments on Raw

4 of 4

The Wyatt Sicks started about as hot as any recent angle in WWE, but after a series of strong character promos and solid matches against American Made, the group disappeared from television.

Slow builds are essential with a group like this, but a lack of substance over the past month has left the group almost back where it started.

It has not helped that Chad Gable, The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile have yet to do anything for a month either, but the biggest focus should be to keep The Wyatt Sicks top of mind for fans even when stories are progressing slowly.

Wyatt Sicks vs. The Final Testament is an important feud for both stables. It could make or break Karrion Kross and The Authors of Pain while also showing Uncle Howdy's ability to revitalize characters with a fresh perspective.

However, it will all mean nothing if The Wyatt Sicks win outright only to disappear from TV for another month.
