5-Star OT Andrew Babalola Commits to Sherrone Moore, Michigan over Oklahoma, Auburn

Andrew PetersOct 21, 2024

Though it's been a disappointing season for defending champion Michigan, the Wolverines got a bit of good news on Monday.

Andrew Babalola, a 5-star offensive tackle prospect out of the Class of 2025, committed to Sherrone Moore and Michigan over Auburn, Oklahoma and a handful of other top programs, per On3 Sports' Steve Wiltfong.

Babalola is considered to be the No. 21 overall prospect, the No. 4 offensive tackle and the top player out of the state of Kansas by 247Sports Composite.

"What made Michigan right for me was the overall family atmosphere," Babalola told Wiltfong. "Knowing I'm going to be taken care of by a collective group of guys. Really just my future teammates. They have everything I need off the field, the academics, just knowing I'm going to be taken care of"

Babalola is Michigan's 17th recruit for the Class of 2025 and the first 5-star commit. The Wolverines have the No. 15-ranked class for 2025, according to 247Sports Composite.

Michigan has struggled in its first year without Jim Harbaugh at the helm, going 4-3 through its first seven games. The Wolverines lost to Texas in Week 2 and have since dropped games to Washington and Illinois.

Rather than competing for a championship this year, Michigan will instead be fighting for bowl eligibility with a handful of tough teams like Oregon, Indiana and Ohio State still on the schedule.

It might be hard for Michigan fans to look on the bright side right now, but the future is at least somewhat promising in Ann Arbor.
