Following the Washington Commanders' dominant 40-7 win over the Carolina Panthers, head coach Dave Canales stated that he is "committed to Andy (Dalton)" as the starting quarterback, according to Panthers.com's Darin Gantt.

Dalton, a 36-year-old veteran, took over as the starter from second-year player Bryce Young after the Panthers' 26-3 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers during Week 2.

On Sunday, Dalton completed 11 of 16 passes for 93 yards with two interceptions and zero touchdowns.

The Panthers drafted the former Heisman Winner with the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but have since shied away from starting the 23-year-old after he completed 31 of 56 passes for 256 yards, three interceptions and zero touchdowns over the Panthers first two games of the season.

The Panthers only win this season came against the Las Vegas Raiders during Week 3, which was Dalton's first start at quarterback.

Carolina falls to 1-6 on the season, making them the only team in the NFC with just one win and placing them last in the NFC South.

Next Sunday, the Panthers will travel to Bronco's Country to take on the Denver Broncos.
