Drake Maye Excites Patriots Fans as Trevor Lawrence, Tank Bigsby, Jags Silence Trolls

Drake Maye is still waiting for his first NFL win, but the New England Patriots rookie put together another encouraging performance as his team fell 32-16 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Maye threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns. Maybe bringing along his development more slowly was the right call by head coach Jerod Mayo. Two starts in, he looks far and away the best quarterback on the roster.

The criticism toward the Patriots on social media was directed less at Maye and more about the general state of the team. The frustration was compounded by the fact New England built an early 10-0 lead with scores on its first two drives, only to stall out as the Jaguars took control.

We're only midway through the first year of the post-Bill Belichick era, yet some are already calling for major changes.

Jaguars fans, on the other hand, had a much different experience in contrast last week's London game.

Jacksonville may not have run away with this one but responded well to going behind by double digits early on. It was the kind of comeback we haven't seen much from this squad.

Particularly when it came to the offense, there were some positive signs to make you believe the Jaguars' playoff hopes haven't disappeared for good.

Trevor Lawrence was an efficient 15-of-20 for 193 yards and one touchdown, and Tank Bigsby went for 118 yards and two scores on the ground.

Before its Week 12 bye, Jacksonville plays the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. This four-game stretch will define the Jags' season.

The Patriots host the New York Jets in Week 8. In what's clearly a rebuilding year, the fans would probably settle for New England playing the spoiler role and putting a dent in the postseason odds of division rivals such as the Jets.
