Jets vs. Steelers: Updated Odds, Money Line, Spread, Props to Watch for SNF

Joe TanseyOct 20, 2024

The New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers experienced the most change of any NFL teams in the last week.

New York acquired Davante Adams after its Monday night debacle against the Buffalo Bills.

Pittsburgh made the quarterback switch to Russell Wilson from Justin Fields now that Wilson is healthy to play.

Sunday night's contest in Pittsburgh has the potential to be disjointed and low scoring because of both defenses.

Adams has built-in chemistry with Aaron Rodgers from their time together in Green Bay, but it may take some time for the on-field sharpness to return between the two.

As for Wilson, the Jets are one of the last teams you would want to make your season debut against, and it could be a rough night for him in the pocket.

Spread: New York Jets (-2)

Over/Under: 39

Money Line: New York Jets (-135; bet $135 to win $100); Pittsburgh (+114; bet $100 to win $114)

Pittsburgh owns a 4-2 record against the spread, but all of those numbers came with Justin Fields at quarterback.

The Jets are 2-4 ATS and have not covered in each of the last three weeks.

New York is 2-3-1 to the over despite having all of its totals set below 44 points. The Jets had two games go under with totals that closed under 40 points.

The Steelers are 2-4 to the over and, similar to the Jets, had two unders hit with totals under 37 points.

Davante Adams Over/Under 4.5 Receptions & Over/Under 53.5 Receiving Yards

Davante Adams will be the most popular Jets player on the player prop market because of his anticipated debut.

Rodgers will likely try to force feed Adams the ball similar to what he's done in previous weeks to get Garrett Wilson involved early and often.

Pittsburgh's defense held four of its six opponents under 100 rushing yards, so the Jets will likely be forced to air the ball out on more occasions than they'd like on Sunday.

Adams has not played since Week 3 due to a hamstring injury and trade negotiations. He was magically taken right off the injury report the second he became a Jet, but there still could be some rust in the first half.

The overs on both of his props are in play because of how often Rodgers will throw in his direction, but there's also a chance it takes a week or two for the Jets offense to find a rhythm.

Breece Hall Over/Under 61.5 Rushing Yards

Breece Hall could be in for a tough night in Pittsburgh.

Hall is facing a Steelers defense that just gave up 57 rushing yards to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Pittsburgh limited the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers to under 100 rushing yards as well this season.

Hall's 113-yard performance against the Buffalo Bills is fresh in everyone's minds, but he did not record more than 62 ground yards in a single game before that.

Sunday's rushing-yard prop is an overreaction to Monday's showing, and it may be wise to take the under in this specific matchup.

Russell Wilson Over/Under 173.5 Passing Yards

No one knows what to expect out of Russell Wilson in his Steelers debut.

Wilson's passing-yard prop is incredibly low compared to the quarterbacks across the NFL, but the number makes sense when you consider his situation.

The Jets held four teams under 200 passing yards, and no opponent has thrown for more than 221 yards against the AFC East side.

Wilson is playing his first meaningful snaps inside the Steelers offense and it may take some time for him to establish an in-game rhythm with the rest of the unit.

There is a strong chance Wilson struggles in his Steelers debut and the home side has to rely on the ground game and defense to grind out a result.

Najee Harris Over/Under 54.5 Rushing Yards

Najee Harris seems like the ideal player to target on the Steelers side for player props.

If Wilson can't discover any rhythm, the Steelers will turn to their top running back to try and take advantage of a Jets defense that was gashed by the run six days ago.

Buffalo carved up the Jets for 149 rushing yards, the fourth 100-yard rushing concession of the season by New York.

Harris has had at least 13 carries in every game this season and he is coming off a season high of 104 yards against the Raiders.

He should at least have the volume to hit the over in a game where the Steelers may lean on him more than usual.
