Shedeur, Deion Impress CFB Fans as Colorado Beats Arizona amid Travis Hunter Injury
Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes rebounded nicely in Week 8.
After losing a heartbreaker to Kansas State in Week 7, Colorado responded by clobbering Arizona 34-7 on the road.
The win advances the Buffaloes to 5-2 on the season, exceeding the program's win total from 2023. It also means that Colorado is one win away from bowl eligibility and still in the hunt for the Big-12 Championship Game.
The Buffaloes did this despite two-way star Travis Hunter sitting after the first half due to precaution after he re-aggravated his shoulder injury from Week 7. He finished the game with two catches for 17 yards.
In his absence, LaJohntay Wester carried the load with eight catches for 127 yards. Will Sheppard had four catches for 54 yards and a touchdown while Drelon Miller had three catches for 18 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah Augustave led the ground game with 14 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Shedeur Sanders was a star for Colorado, going 23-of-32 for 250 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also added a touchdown on the ground.
Fans took to social media to praise Sanders and Colorado and project the team's potential down the stretch.
The Buffaloes are currently 3-1 within the Big-12 and would need some help to reach the Conference Championship. However, Colorado does not have a team that is presently ranked remaining on the schedule and have an excellent resume following the regular season.
The next matchup will come against Cincinnati, who are currently tied with the Buffaloes in the conference standings. That should be an important matchup for reaching the title game, and a performance like Saturday's would help the Buffaloes pass that test.
