Drew Brees Inducted into Saints Hall of Fame as Fans Celebrate Amazing NFL Career

The New Orleans Saints honored legendary franchise quarterback Drew Brees as the latest member of their Hall of Fame during halftime of the team's home game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday evening.

When Brees grabbed the microphone, he led the Saints faithful in the pregame chant he used to shout to his teammates during their Super Bowl-winning 2009 season. Getting the entire crowd into it was quite the feat, given that the Saints just sputtered to a 16-3 halftime deficit.

Brees had his family by his side as he became the 59th member of the team's Hall of Fame.

Brees also was honored with his former Saints head coach, Sean Payton, in Caesars Superdome. Payton, now the Broncos' head coach, led New Orleans from 2006-2021.

Brees played for the San Diego Chargers from 2001-2005 before a trade sent him to New Orleans, where he suited up from 2006-2020.

Brees is second all-time in NFL history in passing yards (80,358), second in passing touchdowns (571) and second in pass completions (7,142). He's a 13-time Pro Bowler and two-time Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year who finished fourth in the NFL MVP voting on four different occasions. He led the NFL in passing yards seven times, completion percentage six times, passing touchdowns four times and quarterback rating twice.

New Orleans enjoyed great success under Brees, most notably winning Super Bowl XLIV to cap the 2009 season. The Saints made the playoffs in nine of Brees' 15 seasons in New Orleans, winning the NFC South on seven occasions.

So needless to say, Brees' placement in the Saints Hall of Fame was a lock, and fans and analysts recognized him on social media.

Brees' next big honor should be in Canton, Ohio, where he'll assuredly slot in as a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer in 2026.
