Saquon Barkley Says He Won't Seek Out 'F U' Moments When Eagles Face Giants in Week 7

Joseph ZuckerOct 16, 2024

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley isn't going to let revenge be his overriding motivation when he faces his old team, the New York Giants on Sunday.

Barkley told reporters he doesn't want to be driven to create an "F U" moment. He related how that was his mindset when he was coming back from a torn ACL and his performance suffered as a result. He added that his main focus is coming out with a win rather than his individual production.

The two-time Pro Bowler nonetheless probably will have a bit of a chip on his shoulder after the Giants showed they valued him but only so much by refraining from giving him the long-term extension he wanted. He had expressed his hope of spending his entire career in New York, only to wind up on one of the team's hated rivals.

Based on his performance, Barkley has been channeling any lingering resentment in a positive way. His 482 rushing yards are fourth in the NFL and his 96.4 yards per game are on pace to be a career high.

With the Eagles sitting a 3-2 and second in the NFC East, the 27-year-old will be happy to take a forgettable showing in a winning effort. But he'd probably be happier to have a huge game against the Giants while Philly comes out victorious.
