Aaron Rodgers: Jets 'Going All In' After Davante Adams Trade; Hypes Fit with Wilson

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers confirmed Tuesday that the acquisition of wide receiver Davante Adams is an all-in move by the organization.

During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show (h/t ESPN's Rich Cimini), Rodgers said: "It's on us now. We're going all in."

Following the Jets' 23-20 home loss to the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills on Monday night, the Jets made a blockbuster move Tuesday morning, acquiring Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick that can become a second-round pick depending on Adams' performance, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

In Adams, the Jets are getting a six-time Pro Bowler who Rodgers is extremely comfortable with, as they were teammates with the Green Bay Packers from 2014 to 2021.

Over Adams' final two seasons in Green Bay, he scored a career-high 18 touchdowns in 2020 and set career highs with 123 receptions for 1,553 yards in 2021. Rodgers was named the back-to-back NFL MVP as well.

Adams had two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in Las Vegas, but he became a trade candidate once the Raiders' offense got off to a poor start this season behind the play of quarterback Gardner Minshew.

Now, Adams will be reunited with his former quarterback, which perhaps breathes new life into a Jets team that has struggled to a 2-4 start.

The Jets were already in win-now mode with Rodgers, who is 40 years old and coming off an Achilles tear suffered last season, and trading for Adams without the Raiders retaining any salary makes it even more clear that New York is 100 percent committed to making the playoffs this season.

It can be argued that wide receiver was far from the Jets' biggest need, though, as Garrett Wilson has 41 receptions for 399 yards and three touchdowns, while Allen Lazard has caught 26 passes for 354 yards and five scores.

However, Rodgers expressed his belief on the Pat McAfee Show (h/t Cimini) that Adams' arrival is "going to really help Garrett out" in terms of not allowing opposing defenses to double-team him on every play.

While that may be the case, there remain major question marks surrounding a Jets offensive line that has allowed Rodgers to get sacked a total of 11 times over the past three weeks.

Also, the Jets' defense struggled mightily against the run Monday night, as the Bills rushed for 149 yards as a team and averaged 4.5 yards per carry despite being without starting running back James Cook.

Additionally, New York fired head coach Robert Saleh following a Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and while the Jets played hard under interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich in Week 6, they still fell short and it remains to be seen if he is the right coach to end their playoff drought.

Regardless, there was clearly a desire from both Rodgers and Adams for a reunion, and the Jets made it happen in hopes that it can help push them into the postseason for the first time since 2010.
