The Chiefs took down the 49ers by the final score of 25-22 in overtime to win their fourth Lombardi Trophy in franchise history last season. Kansas City also defeated San Francisco in Super Bowl LIV, with Patrick Mahomes earning the first of his three championships.
Mahomes hasn't played up to his high standards to begin the 2024 season, but the Chiefs have still been able to maintain the best record in the AFC at 5-0. The two-time MVP has completed 69.4 percent of his throws, but he's averaging a career-low 247 passing yards per game and has recorded six touchdowns to go along with six interceptions.
The 49ers have dealt with multiple injuries to key players this season such as Christian McCaffrey and Javon Hargrave. They've still been able to sit atop the NFC West with a 3-3 record through six weeks, though.
Brock Purdy has delivered up-and-down performances to open the year, but he's coming off an efficient game against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. Purdy finished 18-of-28 for 255 yards and three touchdowns without turning the ball over during a 36-24 win.
As for Brady, the NFL's all-time leading passer received a hefty 10-year contract worth $375 million to join Fox as a broadcaster back in May 2022. He's also in the midst of gaining approval as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Kickoff between the Chiefs and 49ers will be on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
