Lamar Jackson, Jayden Daniels QB Matchup Thrills NFL Fans as Ravens Beat Commanders

Timothy RappOct 13, 2024

Jayden Daniels is having a fantastic rookie season and looks like one of the burgeoning stars in the NFL. But he isn't quite on the level of Lamar Jackson just yet.

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback was excellent yet again on Sunday, finishing 20-of-26 for 323 yards, one touchdown and one interception to go along with 40 rushing yards in his team's 30-23 victory over the Washington Commanders.

Daniels did what he could to keep pace, finishing 24-of-35 for two touchdowns and no interceptions, rushing for 22 yards.

It was another admirable performance from the young quarterback, but it wasn't quite enough to overcome the two-time MVP.

Regardless of the result, however, NFL fans and pundits alike enjoyed watching the two explosive players do battle:

The win moved Baltimore to 4-2 on the season and dropped Washington to the same mark.

Jackson had plenty of help on Sunday, as Derrick Henry rushed for 132 yards and two scores, while Zay Flowers had nine catches for 132 yards and Mark Andrews scored his first touchdown of the season.

The Commanders, meanwhile, were without top rusher Brian Robinson Jr. and it showed, as the team finished with just 52 yards on the ground. That forced Daniels to spread the rock around through the air and he did so well, with Terry McLaurin (six catches for 53 yards and two touchdowns) leading the aerial assault.

Those efforts weren't aided by a Washington secondary that continues to get torched on a weekly basis. The team's strong start has mostly come down to the offensive improvement with Daniels at quarterback.

The future is bright for the rookie. Jackson, meanwhile, continues to look like an early frontrunner for MVP.
