NFL Rumors: Tom Brady Expected to Be Approved as Raiders Minority Owner After Vote

Taylyn HadleyOct 12, 2024

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is set to gain approval as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders at the upcoming NFL fall owners' meeting in Atlanta on Tuesday, sources informed Adam Schefter of ESPN.

After reviewing Brady's bid, the NFL Finance Committee plans to present it for a vote by the other owners. Brady would need approval from 24 of the 32 owners to move forward.

As a source explained to ESPN, Brady's bid wouldn't be brought to a vote unless it was expected to be approved.

With Brady's ownership approval still pending, the future Hall of Famer may encounter "severe" limitations on his broadcasting career with Fox, according to ESPN's Seth Wickersham.

"The league confirmed to ESPN that among the restrictions, Brady would not be permitted to be in another team's facility, would not be permitted to witness practice and would not be permitted to attend broadcast production meetings, either in-person or virtually," wrote Wickersham.

Brady would also be facing a severe lack of access to coaches and players if approved.

"Those meetings at which a broadcast crew meets with the matchup's head coaches and key players, are often a lifeblood of insight for the telecast," Wickersham continued.

If approved, Brady will purchase approximately 10 percent of the Raiders along side businessman Tom Wagner from controlling owner of the Raiders Mark Davis.

"We're excited for Tom to join the Raiders," Davis told ESPN's Paul Gutierrez during the initial agreement in May of 2023. "And it's exciting because he will be just the third player in the history of the National Football League to become an owner."

Brady is currently in his first of 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox after retiring from the NFL in 2023.
