Video: 49ers Fined $100K After Dre Greenlaw Shoved Trey McBride in Loss to Cardinals

Dre Greenlaw may not be able to play yet but that doesn't mean he is exempt from a fine.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that the San Francisco 49ers linebacker was fined $14,069 and the team was penalized $100,000 after he shoved Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride last week.

Greenlaw is currently inactive after suffering a torn Achilles in Super Bowl LVIII.

The 49ers lost that game to the Cardinals, falling to 2-3 on the season. San Francisco got back on track with a 36-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, but it still has not been an ideal start to the 2024 campaign.

Greenlaw would help out. The 27-year-old had 120 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2023 and has a strong presence on the 49ers defense.

General manager John Lynch said that he expects Greenlaw to return in 2024 but that the team and fanbase need to "be patient."

While the franchise likely isn't happy with having to shell out some more cash to the league, it will look forward to when Greenlaw can return and stick up for his teammates on the field.
