Brian Robinson Jr. Out for Commanders vs. Ravens with Knee Injury

Zach BacharOct 12, 2024

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. was ruled out for the team's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday due to a knee injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Robinson was initially listed as questionable heading into the game, although his status was downgraded after he was unable to practice during the week.

The 25-year-old has been battling knee issues for multiple weeks, but he was still able to suit up in Washington's Week 5 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

However, Robinson was limited to just 23 snaps against Cleveland and recorded a season-low seven rushes for 18 yards. He was still able to find the end zone twice.

While he won't suit up on Sunday, Robinson doesn't appear to be headed for an extended stretch of absences. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn told reporters on Friday that the running back's knee injury doesn't feel like a long-term issue.

"It feels more short, but anytime you're dealing with an injury you want to make sure, is there any longevity to that? We wouldn't put him out there if that was the case," Quinn said, per the team's official website.

Robinson was off to a strong start in 2024 prior to the injury, as he racked up 325 yards and five touchdowns through five games. He added another 68 yards as a receiver on eight catches.

The former third-round pick has been a key piece of a Commanders offense that has exceeded expectations to open the season. Led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, Washington owns the NFL's best scoring offense and second-best rushing attack.

The team holds a 4-1 record, good enough for the top spot in the NFC East.

With Robinson out, the Commanders will turn to Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols as they attempt to win a fifth consecutive game.
