Video: Chiefs' Andy Reid Reacts to Travis Kelce Lateral, Practice It 'Every Day'

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid didn't waste much time ending any suspense about whether his team planned its head-turning lateral during the first half of Monday's game against the New Orleans Saints.

Patrick Mahomes completed a pass to Travis Kelce on 3rd-and-22, and the tight end then lateraled it to Samaje Perine. It left the Chiefs one yard short of a first down, and they eventually converted the ensuing fourth down before ending the drive with a field goal.

"We do it every day in practice," Reid said when asked if the play was planned or not.

This is not the first time Kelce has lateraled a live ball after coming down with a catch.

He famously pitched one back to Kadarius Toney during a showdown with the Buffalo Bills last season. It went for what would have been the go-ahead touchdown in the final minutes and surely the play of the year, but it was nullified because Toney lined up in the neutral zone ahead of the snap.

Basically, Chiefs running backs and wide receivers have to keep their heads on a swivel when they are playing with Kelce. He could unleash a lateral at any moment, especially if he sees the opening and the team has worked on such plays in practice.

The Saints weren't ready for Monday's play, and the result was a long gain.
