Fantasy Football Trade Market: Davante Adams Advice and More Buy, Sell and Hold Picks

Moe MotonOct 7, 2024

As the Las Vegas Raiders weigh trade offers for wide receiver Davante Adams and rookies make strong early-season impressions, fantasy football managers must act fast or miss out on buy-low and sell-high opportunities.

If the Raiders trade Adams, managers should consider another receiver who could be on the move because of his arrival.

On Sunday, a couple of rookie running backs led their respective teams in rushing. One of them made our buy list back in the preseason. The other may have played his way into a decent role.

Lastly, a first-round draft pick has made managers a bit nervous with his underwhelming performances through five weeks, but you need to show a little more patience with him.

Bleacher Report's fantasy football trade market has something for all managers, whether you're a buyer, seller or someone looking to make deals with value in mind.

Falcons RB Bijan Robinson
Falcons RB Bijan Robinson

Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Week 5: 12 carries, 61 yards; 3 catches, 16 yards

2024 Season: 67 carries, 285 yards, TD; 18 catches, 151 yards

Managers who roster Robinson watched the fantasy fireworks go off last Thursday when the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored 66 points combined in an overtime thriller, but they didn't enjoy much of the action. In Week 5, Robinson had his lowest fantasy scoring output (10.7) of the season for point-per-reception leagues.

Robinson, a popular first-round pick, hasn't finished higher than 19th in fantasy scoring for any of the first five weeks of the campaign.

Be patient with him. He could post gaudy stat lines in his next two outings. In Weeks 6 and 7, the Falcons will face the Carolina Panthers' bottom-tier run defense, and the Seattle Seahawks, who just allowed 130 scrimmage yards to rookie fifth-round running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Buy Robinson for: Breece Hall, Jonathan Taylor, DJ Moore

Davante Adams, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

Week 5: N/A

2024 Season: 18 catches, 209 yards, TD

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Adams' preferred destination is the New York Jets, though he's open to other teams on the way out of Las Vegas.

Rapoport also noted that the New Orleans Saints have been the "most aggressive" club pursuing the three-time All-Pro receiver.

If the Jets and Saints remain the most likely teams to acquire Adams, his season outlook will improve significantly compared to his situation with the Raiders' unsettled quarterback position.

Head coach Antonio Pierce is uncertain who will be under center for the Raiders next week. He's choosing between low-end starters Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell.

In New York or New Orleans, Adams would reunite with one of his former quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers or Derek Carr, respectively, likely resulting in a high number of targets and steady production.

Buy Adams shares with the idea that he will go to a team that helps boost his receiving numbers. He's still among the league's best wideouts, ranking 18th in receiving yards per game (69.7).

Buy Adams for: Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, Zay Flowers

Diontae Johnson, WR, Carolina Panthers

Week 5: 3 catches, 23 yards; 2 carries, 6 yards

2024 Season: 23 catches, 262 yards, 2 TDs; 2 carries, 6 yards

Here's your chance to buy low on Johnson's shares following his first dud performance with Andy Dalton under center.

Johnson caught 15 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns between Weeks 3 and 4 with Dalton. He struggled against the Chicago Bears' eighth-ranked pass defense in Week 5, but his fantasy outlook remains strong as the Panthers' clear-cut No. 1 wideout.

By the way, rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette suffered a shoulder injury during the previous outing. Johnson's target volume keeps him on the high end of the fantasy WR2 spectrum.

Buy Johnson for: Cooper Kupp, Stefon Diggs, Calvin Ridley

Ravens TE Mark Andrews

Raheem Mostert, RB, Miami Dolphins

Week 5: 19 carries, 80 yards; 2 catches, 18 yards

2024 Season: 25 carries, 89 yards; 4 catches, 28 yards

Mostert missed three games because of a chest injury and returned to his featured role in the Dolphins backfield last Sunday, but Jaylen Wright led the team on the ground with 86 rushing yards.

De'Von Achane exited the previous outing with a concussion, which left Wright and Mostert to split the majority of the touches. The former averaged 6.6 yards per carry compared to the latter's 4.2 yards per carry.

At 32 years old, Mostert will eventually see a decline in his workload. Managers should trade him now before the Dolphins take a longer look at Wright, a rookie who's shown early promise as an electric playmaker.

Sell Mostert for: Rico Dowdle, J.K. Dobbins, Antonio Gibson

Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, New England Patriots

Week 5: 12 carries, 89 yards, TD; 4 catches, 3 yards

2024 Season: 77 carries, 356 yards, 3 TDs; 13 catches, 37 yards

Last week, the Patriots benched Stevenson for Antonio Gibson, but he still finished third in PPR leagues among running backs.

Managers should view Stevenson's strong fantasy performance as an opportunity to sell his shares rather than a reason to hold on to him.

Though Stevenson avoided a significant leg injury last Sunday, he's a fumble away from losing his prominent role. New England elevated Gibson because of Stevenson's fumbling issues. Don't wait until he loses his touches. Be proactive and move on for a running back with a more secure role in his team's backfield.

Sell Stevenson for: Bucky Irving, Najee Harris, Jakobi Meyers

Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens

Week 5: 4 catches, 55 yards

2024 Season: 10 catches, 120 yards

Managers with Andrews on their rosters have waited for this opportunity. His box score numbers were a major disappointment for three out of four weeks in September.

Well, here's your chance to sell his shares for whatever you can get in return.

Andrews had a decent Week 5 outing. Yet fellow tight ends Isaiah Likely (three receptions for 13 yards and two touchdowns) and Charlie Kolar (three catches for 64 yards and a touchdown) still overshadowed him with more productive performances.

Andrews is no longer the go-to target in the Ravens' passing game, and he's more of an afterthought in the team's run-heavy offense. Dump his shares while you can this week.

Sell Andrews for: Hunter Henry, Cole Kmet, Erick All

Rams RB Blake Corum
Rams RB Blake Corum

Blake Corum, RB, Los Angeles Rams

Week 5: 5 carries, 25 yards; 1 catch, 8 yards

2024 Season: 13 carries, 53 yards; 2 catches, 12 yards

Through September, Corum has been the No. 3 running back behind Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers, taking the field mostly on special teams.

Before Week 5, Corum hadn't registered a carry since Week 2. Now, he may have a hold on the primary backup job, which makes him an intriguing asset for managers who either roster Williams or expect the rookie ball-carrier to eventually cut into the starter's workload.

Jaylen Wright, RB, Miami Dolphins

Week 5: 13 carries, 86 yards

2024 Season: 29 carries, 139 yards

As noted above, with the suggestion to sell Raheem Mostert's shares, Wright could complicate the Dolphins' backfield if he continues to flash his big-play ability on the ground.

Every week this season, Wright has topped his rushing yards total from the previous outing. With 32-year-old Mostert and a banged-up De'Von Achane (concussion), splitting touches with him, he has a shot at a full-blown breakout performance in the coming weeks.

Mike Williams, WR, New York Jets

Week 5: 2 catches, 25 yards

2024 Season: 10 catches, 145 yards

CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones provided a fantasy-relevant nugget amid the Davante Adams trade rumors. He believes the Jets would be willing to part ways with Williams if they acquire Adams as teams look for an alternative option on the wide receiver trade market.

If the Jets land Adams, he would demand a massive target share with Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, who's Aaron Rodgers' other former Green Bay Packers teammate, already in the fold.

As the probable odd man out, Williams could see an uptick in target share with a team like the Kansas City Chiefs, who desperately need help at the position after losing Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice to injuries.

Managers should hold Williams' shares until the Jets make or miss out on a deal for Adams.
