This marks the first time that College GameDay has visited the Cal campus, and it will be the first meeting between the Golden Bears and the Hurricanes since 2008. The two teams have faced off just four times in the history of their respective programs with both holding two wins apiece.

Cal is in its first season in the ACC and got off to a 3-0 start to the 2024 campaign before losing its conference opener to Florida State 14-9 last week.

While the Hurricanes haven't visited Berkley since 1990, a few key figures will be familiar with their surroundings in Saturday's game.

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal previously coached at Oregon and dueled against Cal while competing in the Pac-12. Hurricanes star quarterback Cam Ward threw for 354 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-39 loss to the Bears while he played for Washington State last season, and leading rusher Damien Martinez posted 89 yards and a touchdown while playing for Oregon State in a 52-40 win over Cal.

Miami enters Saturday's matchup with a 5-0 record and has been one of the most impressive teams in the nation this year, rising from its No. 19 ranking at the start of the season to No. 8 this week. The Hurricanes are hoping to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff, so they will be looking to keep their undefeated streak going when they clash with the Bears on Saturday night.
