Jets' Aaron Rodgers Responds to Viral Photo of Reaction to Missed FG in Broncos Loss

A disappointed New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers sat back and put a towel over his face after his team fell 10-9 to the Denver Broncos last Sunday when a Greg Zuerlein 50-yard field goal attempt sailed right on a rainy afternoon.

In an interview with Rodgers published Friday, NFL Network's Kyle Brandt referenced that picture, noting how Jets fans on social media said that this was the moment that the four-time NFL MVP officially became a member of the long-suffering franchise. He then asked if Rodgers could cure the "same old Jets disease."

"I don't know," Rodgers replied. "I think it takes a collective effort. It takes all of us including the fanbase to just have a little belief. I also understand what this organization has been through, and we're going to have to win consistently to kind of start to turn that tide."

The Jets won Super Bowl III in Jan. 1969 and haven't been back to the Big Game since. It's mostly been losing seasons since then, with occasional years of hope mixed in. It's been more of the former than the latter since 2011, which began a 13-year-and-counting streak outside the playoffs.

The 2024 campaign has certainly brought hope, though, with a healthy Rodgers leading the team. However, New York is off to an uneven 2-2 start punctuated by an ugly loss to the Broncos, who emerged victorious despite quarterback Bo Nix throwing for just 60 yards.

The story of this season hasn't been written, though.

The Jets could get back on the right track quickly on Sunday if they beat the undefeated 4-0 Minnesota Vikings in London. Kickoff will be at 9:30 a.m. ET from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
