NFL Teams' Updated 2024 Salary Cap Amid Davante Adams Raiders Trade Request Rumors

Paul KasabianOct 1, 2024

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams prefers a trade, per Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Rapoport added: "The Raiders are trying to win games and there are plenty of scenarios where Davante Adams stays in Las Vegas. But there are also scenarios where he's headed elsewhere. And he'll have a market."

Garafolo also noted: "Nothing imminent but this certainly lays the groundwork for an eventual split."

Adams has three seasons left on a five-year, $140 million contract. Per Spotrac, here's what his cap figure looks like going forward.

Here's a rundown of each team's 2024 cap space. Even teams below the $8.6 million trade deadline mark could, presumably, find a way to get some cap space to fit Adams into the picture, perhaps via restructures of some sort.

2024 Salary Cap Space

  • 49ers $56,737,011
  • Browns $44,122,155
  • Patriots $36,983,027

  • Cardinals $21,595,736
  • Jets $16,809,151
  • Jaguars $14,835,375
  • Packers $14,268,164
  • Titans $13,623,523
  • Colts $12,600,817
  • Seahawks $12,069,379
  • Buccaneers $11,472,129
  • Eagles $11,441,801
  • Steelers $10,558,536
  • Vikings $10,264,846
  • Falcons $8,811,529
  • Bengals $8,481,728
  • Chargers $7,825,697
  • Texans $7,244,119
  • Bears $6,937,847
  • Dolphins $6,094,916
  • Chiefs $4,930,027
  • Broncos $4,576,416
  • Ravens $4,305,923

  • Giants $3,576,489
  • Saints $2,777,973
  • Rams $2,582,735
  • Panthers $570,977

There are four potential trade destinations that stand out above the rest.

Adams can reunite with his longtime Green Bay Packers teammate, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, on the New York Jets. Gang Green hasn't gotten the offense going thus far, averaging just 19.0 PPG (21st in the NFL). Adams could step in as the team's top outside receiver and immediately boost the passing game.

The 4-0 Kansas City Chiefs are shooting for their third straight Super Bowl but could use reinforcements at wide receiver with Hollywood Brown missing "months" following surgery for a sternoclavicular injury and Rashee Rice out an undetermined amount of time for a knee injury. Adams could form a deadly trio with Travis Kelce and rookie Xavier Worthy.

Right before the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers nearly landed star San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk via trade before the deal fell apart in the last minute. It's clear Pittsburgh covets more talent at wideout, and Adams could help meet that need for a team that's gotten off to a solid 3-1 start.

And then there's Green Bay, where Adams starred for nearly a decade before he got a trade to Vegas. Green Bay is well-stocked with talent at the position, though, thanks to Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks and Christian Watson.

Ultimately, Adams is the big name to watch now as the trade deadline looms large on Nov. 5.
