Video: Mel Kiper Jr. Says Alabama's Jalen Milroe Is 'Vying for QB1' in 2025 NFL Draft

After a dazzling performance in Alabama's thrilling 41-34 victory over Georgia on Saturday, Jalen Milroe's stock for the 2025 NFL draft is soaring right now.

Appearing on Tuesday's episode of Get Up, ESPN NFL draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. said Milroe is "vying" to be the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 class.

Milroe is off to a fantastic start this season with 964 yards, 10 touchdowns, one interception and a 72.9 completion percentage through the air. He has also run for 273 yards and eight touchdowns on 53 carries.

Saturday was one of the best games of Milroe's career. The junior star threw for a career-high 374 yards and two touchdowns, including the 75-yard game-winner to Ryan Williams with 2:18 remaining after Georgia erased a 28-point deficit to take a 34-33 lead.

In Kiper's most recent big board released on Sept. 26, Milroe was the fifth-ranked quarterback in the 2025 draft class. Shedeur Sanders, Carson Beck, Quinn Ewers and Cam Ward were all ranked ahead of him.

Beck and Ward didn't have stellar showings over the weekend. Beck threw for 439 yards and three touchdowns against Alabama's defense, but he completed 27 of 50 attempts and had three interceptions.

Ward had three turnovers (two interceptions, one fumble) in Miami's 38-34 win over Virginia Tech on Friday. Ewers hasn't played since suffering an abdominal injury in the second quarter of Texas' win over UTSA on Sept. 14.

Sanders is playing well for a Colorado team that has won three straight games since a 28-10 loss to Nebraska on Sept. 7. He is completing 70.1 percent of his attempts with 14 touchdowns, three interceptions and averaging 9.01 adjusted yards per attempt.

B/R's Ryan Fowler compared Milroe to a "twitchier Jalen Hurts" because he "isn't afraid to push the football to all three levels of a defense with the dynamic ability to expand a playbook with his legs."

In a season that still doesn't have a strongly-defined No. 1 quarterback prospect, Milroe's performance against a Georgia defense that allowed a total of 18 points in its first three games is going to garner a lot of attention.

The next major test for Milroe will be on Oct. 19 when the Crimson Tide travel to Neyland Stadium to take on No. 4 Tennessee.
