Cowboys' Micah Parsons Carted Off Field with Apparent Leg Injury in 4Q vs. Giants

Andrew PetersSep 26, 2024

The Dallas Cowboys faced a bit of bad injury luck on Thursday in their game against the New York Giants.

Late in the fourth quarter, star linebacker Micah Parsons went down on the turf in obvious pain. He was then helped off the field by trainers before being carted to the locker room with his shoe off of his left foot.

The 25-year-old also left the game in the second quarter with a neck injury and spent time in the injury tent, though he managed to return shortly after.

Before the injury, Parsons had a pair of tackles and one tackle for loss. Through the first three games of the season, the fourth-year player has 12 total tackles, a sack and a pass deflected.

Parsons is coming off the best season of his career a year ago, recording 64 tackles, a career-high 14 sacks and a forced fumble on his way to being named a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.

Since he was selected in the first round of the 2021 draft, Parsons has been one of the best edge-rushers in football, picking up 13 or more sacks in each of his first three seasons. If he has to miss time due to the injury, it would be a huge blow to the Cowboys.

While Parsons' injury was an unfortunate result of Thursday's game, Dallas made a step in the right direction with a win over the Giants. The Cowboys won their first game of the year against the Cleveland Browns, but faced a Week 2 blowout against the New Orleans Saints before dropping last week's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The good news is Parsons will have more than a week to rest and recover, and the Cowboys will hope to have him back on the field next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
