The 2024 Presidents Cup began on Thursday with an opening ceremony at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec.

Two-time PGA Tour champion Mackenzie Hughes joined Weir in kicking off the event by chugging a beer before the Canadian crowd.

The opening ceremony was highlighted by a helicopter flyover and the national anthems for both the United States and Canada.

The United States, behind captain Jim Furyk, are seeking to repeat as Presidents Cup champions after the Americans claimed victory in the 2022 edition of the event in Charlotte.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will face the international team for a second straight tournament as the Americans seek a 10th consecutive trophy.

The 12-man U.S. roster is highlighted by players including world No. 2 Xander Schauffele, 2023 U.S. Open victor Wyndham Clark and six-time PGA Tour champion Tony Finau.
