Aaron Jones Eyes Lambeau Leap in 1st Game vs. Packers Since Signing Vikings Contract

Joseph ZuckerSep 25, 2024

Aaron Jones no longer plays for the Green Bay Packers, but that may not stop the Minnesota Vikings running back from partaking in a Lambeau Field tradition.

Jones told reporters Wednesday he's "definitely leaping" into the crowd if he scores a touchdown. He said he's hopeful of finding a Vikings fan or two amid the sea of Packers diehards.

The 2020 Pro Bowler spent seven seasons in Green Bay, so he watched and participated in the "Lambeau Leap" on numerous occasions.

It looks like he's even trying to bring the practice to Vikings games. He briefly scaled the wall in a road win over the New York Giants after scoring his first touchdown, and he said he intends to call the celebration the "Bank Vault" when it happens at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Despite playing for a rival team, Jones made it clear a level of affection toward the Packers remains.

"I understand it's a business and I made a lot of great relationships there," he told reporters. "I have a lot of respect for the people there and the relationships that I've made there and there's nothing but love. ... At some point you got to make business decisions, and it may be a hard decision, but you've got to make a decision and live with it."

Vikings players typically expect a frosty reception at Lambeau Field. Doing the "Lambeau Leap" in purple and gold is a risky proposition. In the case of Jones, Packers fans might be willing to briefly overlook their allegiances.
