Travis Kelce's Mom Talks NFL Star's Acting Debut: 'He Has No Fear of Trying Things'
Donna Kelce, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, says it's no surprise her son is branching out from his NFL career with his major TV debut in the FX thriller "Grotesquerie."
"I know he wanted to do this, and I know he can manifest things," Donna Kelce told Variety's Michael Appler. "He has no fear of trying things, and he has no fear of failure."
Donna Kelce continued: "You know, sometimes parents want to fix things for their kids. But sometimes it's better to just let them fail. You learn the most from things you don't do well. Hopefully, if this is something he wants to do, he'll get better at it."

"Grotesquerie" is described by FX as a 10-episode drama about "a series of heinous crimes that have unsettled a small community." Directed by Ryan Murphy, the show is set to premiere on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET.
The series will be led by Niecy Nash-Betts, who plays a detective investigating the crimes, and Micaela Diamond, who assists as a journalist and nun.
Kelce's role in the drama has not yet been officially disclosed, but Appler described his character as a "bed nurse" who makes an appearance for the first time in the show's third episode.
The Chiefs star has previously dipped into the world of acting with a cameo on a 2020 episode of the Showtime comedy "Moonbase 8."
He also hosted an episode of "Saturday Night Live" in 2023 and featured as the star of his own seven-episode reality dating show, "Catching Kelce," in 2016.
Now Kelce, who has reached new levels of fame amid his relationship with singer Taylor Swift, is the latest celebrity to earn an acting role in one of Murphy's productions.
Murphy previously cast Lady Gaga in a 2015 season of "American Horror Story," a role for which the singer went on to win a Golden Globe, and most recently signed on Kim Kardashian for the most recent season of the show.
Kelce, who led the Chiefs in targets and receptions last season, is off to a slow start to his 11th NFL campaign. He has totaled eight catches on 12 targets for 69 receiving yards and no touchdowns through the Chiefs' 3-0 start to the season, while wideout Rashee Rice is taking the featured role alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The nine-time Pro Bowl tight end will look to earn more targets while horror fans prepare for the airing of his acting debut. Episode 3, during which Kelce is slated to make his first appearance, is set to release next Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET.
