Aaron Rodgers Rips Rumors on Jets' Culture, Jokes Haason Reddick's Agent Was Source

Paul KasabianSep 24, 2024

In late August, an unnamed NFL agent didn't mince words about the New York Jets' culture to Ben Standig of The Athletic, specifically citing quarterback Aaron Rodgers:

"There is complete disarray over there. Look at how they've handled Aaron Rodgers. Has one player had more power than him? He skipped minicamp. They have been unable to convert him into a team player. The vibe inside the building is terrible."

Rodgers was asked about those comments during his weekly Pat McAfee Show appearance, and it's safe to say that he disagrees (2:05 mark).

"I would say the culture here is about the opposite of what that headline said. I didn't read the article, but just reading that headline there, it sounds like it was written by Haason Reddick's agent...former agent I guess, possibly, in a way to try and disparage our great organization."

The Jets acquired Reddick, a two-time Pro Bowl edge-rusher, via trade from the Philadelphia Eagles in March.

However, Reddick held out for the entire preseason and even issued a new trade request in search of a new contract (he is in the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract with a non-guaranteed $14.25 million in base pay, per ESPN's Rich Cimini). Reddick has missed the first three regular season games as well.

Reddick's agent is still Tory Dandy, managing partner/co-head of CAA Sports' football division. There's no reports that Dandy is now his former agent, and Reddick is still continuing his holdout. There is also no report pulling back the reported trade request.

As for the culture, everything seems great in New York, which is 2-1 and building off the high of a dominant 24-3 home win over the New England Patriots last Thursday.

McAfee pointed out various Pats hits on Jets players that occurred during the game and showed how Gang Green had each other's backs. Rodgers elaborated on the positivity of the Jets' culture, specifically the offensive line's role.

Ultimately, everything seems to be going great in New York. Up next is a home game against the 1-2 Broncos before the Jets played three of the remaining five undefeated teams in succession: the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers.
