Derek Carr on Saints' Loss to Eagles: 'You're Pissed Because You Lost. You're Mad'

Zach BacharSep 23, 2024

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr was upset following a narrow 15-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

At the same time, he also acknowledged that the Saints were facing off against an Eagles team that has won 25 combined regular-season games in the last two years.

"You're pissed because you lost. You're mad at that," Carr said, per ESPN's Katherine Terrell. "You want to win all these games. But at the end of the day, we played a really good football team."

After scoring at least 44 points in each of the team's first two games of the season, the Saints' offense couldn't get going on Sunday. New Orleans was only able to muster 219 total yards and one touchdown against Philadelphia.

Carr finished 14-of-25 for 142 yards and a touchdown to go along with an interception. His turnover was especially costly, as he was picked off with the Saints attempting to tie the game and just under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Saints led 12-7 with roughly two minutes left in the game, but New Orleans' defense gave up a go-ahead touchdown to Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

Carr is still off to a strong start during his second season with the organization, completing 68.8 percent of his throws for 585 yards through three games. He's also recorded six touchdown passes compared to two interceptions.

Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's unit will attempt to regroup and bounce back during the team's next contest, a Week 4 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
