Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick compared Miami quarterback Cam Ward to Houston Texans signal caller C.J. Stroud on Saturday's episode of the Belichick Show.

Belichick joined former NFL executive Michael Lombardi in analyzing game tape in order to evaluate Ward alongside Alabama's Jalen Milroe and Georgia's Carson Beck.

Belichick described Milroe as a quarterback who is able to run the ball while being "built like a linebacker." Milroe is listed by Alabama at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds.

"He's a guy that a lot of DBs aren't gonna want to tackle. Gonna have a hard time getting him on the ground," Belichick said. "Gives you a weapon down in the red area, on the goal line, quarterback runs, red zone plays. But once he gets up a head of steam, this guy's really hard to stop."

Belichick then compared Ward to Stroud while complimenting his arm and his "ability to escape the pocket."

"This kid's got a good arm, he delivers the ball quickly... this guy's going to be a little bit of a problem in the pocket," Belichick said. "He's not just gonna be a statue back there. He'll be able to do some things, running with the ball, and also buying time to extend plays."

Belichick noted that Beck will be largely protected behind Georgia's offensive line this year, comparing his sheltered role to former No. 1 pick Bryce Young's protection at Alabama and subsequent struggles with the Carolina Panthers.

"He's playing with a lot of good players," Belichick said.

Belichick also described Beck as a "big kid, good size, good athlete."

"Not quite the runner or anything that Milroe is, but he's been productive, and he's won," Belichick said. "He's showed that he can win with that team."

Now that Belichick has launched his media career after 24 seasons on the Patriots' sidelines, it's safe to expect more college quarterback analysis from the six-time Super Bowl winner heading into the 2025 NFL draft.
