ESPN College Gameday 2024: Georgia vs. Alabama Chosen as Week 5 Location Host

The Week 5 showdown between Georgia and Alabama is one of the most-anticipated games of the 2024 college football season, so it's only fitting that College Gameday will set up shop at Bryant-Denney Stadium.

ESPN announced on Saturday that the Sept. 28 episode of College Gameday will broadcast from Tuscaloosa.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer has Alabama off to a dominant 3-0 start in his first season after replacing the retired Nick Saban, who is now an analyst on College Gameday. The Crimson Tide have outscored their opponents 147-26, but that's against a light schedule featuring Western Kentucky, South Florida and Wisconsin.

Next week will mark the first regular-season meeting between the two SEC rivals since October 17, 2020. Alabama won that game 41-24 en route to a 13-0 record and a national title.

The last three times Alabama and Georgia squared off was either in the SEC Championship Game or College Football Playoff Championship Game. The Crimson Tide won two of those three games, including the SEC title game last year that ended the Bulldogs' undefeated season and knocked them out of the playoff.

Georgia hasn't won at Bryant-Denney Stadium since 2007 in Saban's first year as Alabama's head coach.

The expanded 12-team College Football Playoff this year likely means the loser of this game won't be eliminated from the national title picture, but the winner will be in a great position for one of the top four seeds and a first-round bye.
