Nick Sirianni: I Didn't Speak to Eagles After Jalen Hurts' Speech on Falcons Loss

After the Philadelphia Eagles' disappointing loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, star quarterback Jalen Hurts' postgame speech to the team was so good that head coach Nick Sirianni didn't feel the need to add anything else.

Sirianni said during a radio appearance on the 94WIP Morning Show that he didn't address the Eagles because he felt Hurts covered everything that needed to be said in his speech:

The Eagles looked like they were well on their way to victory when they reached the red zone with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Star running back Saquon Barkley dropped a pass that would've been a game-sealing first down, and Philadelphia settled for a field goal.

When the Falcons got the ball back with a six-point deficit, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins engineered a six-play, 70-yard drive that culminated with a go-ahead seven-yard touchdown pass to Drake London to allow Atlanta to steal the win at Lincoln Financial Field.

Sirianni explained that he originally planned to speak to the Eagles after the loss, but Hurts' speech covered the message he planned on giving to the team.

"Jalen is an awesome leader. I'm sitting there looking through what I was going to say after the game. He spoke from his heart," Sirianni said. "I thought his message was right on, dead on. We'll always keep in-house things in-house, but at the end of the day, Jalen talked about the details. I just thought he was spot on with what he said, his passion was awesome. When a player is saying everything that you would say, there is no reason for me to speak afterwards. Man, that was perfect."

Sirianni added that he believes Hurts' display of leadership is an indication that Philadelphia has the right mindset coming off such a brutal loss, and he believes the team will be ready to bounce back when it faces the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

"Like I said, when your leaders are preaching the same messages that I am and that I believe in, and we're all on the same, that's huge," Sirianni said. "Quite frankly, I talk a lot... And so, I loved it and I know that helped kicked us in the butt a little bit and just kind of snap into the reality of it, hey it's one game and let's move on."
