EA College Football 25 Release 'Above Expectations' with 6.5M Unique Players in 2024

EA Sports College Football 25's release has been "above expectations" and seen 6.5 million unique players as of Tuesday.

That news is per EA, which released the information on an Investor Day call in New York City, per Pete Nakos of On3.

The game marked the return of the college football franchise for the first time since 2013, when it was known as NCAA Football. That EA-developed game ran from 1998-2013.

The return of a college football video game undoubtedly excited fans, with the excitement and buildup rising to a fever pitch before the game was released in July. Per EA (h/t Nakos), 500,000 people participated in the game's EA Play trial.

The developer also said on Investor Day that EA Sports College Football 25 resulted in North America's biggest new console game launch this year.

Obviously, the biggest difference between now and then is the fact that players' names, images and likeness can be used in this game. No longer to people have to use generic players with the skillsets of their human counterparts but without their names and likenesses.

Per Nakos, over 14,000 college football players opted to be in the game, and they received $600 plus a game copy for their agreement.

Ultimately, the video game was a major success and then some, and the game's yearly release should be a highly anticipated event moving forward.
