Tua Tagovailoa's Wife Annah Said 'He's OK' to Dolphins QB's Brother After Concussion

Joseph ZuckerSep 16, 2024

The wife of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa spoke with his brother midway through the team's Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills to say he was "OK" after suffering a concussion, according to The MMQB's Albert Breer.

Breer added that Annah Tagovailoa made an "acknowledgment that there was a lot of uncertainty ahead."

The Dolphins star suffered a concussion when he dove forward on a run in the third quarter against Buffalo. ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques noted he "immediately went into a fencing response with his arms in an unnatural position."

Concussions are considered in a far more serious tone than they were in the past thanks to the wider awareness of their long-term health effects.

Tagovailoa has been diagnosed with three of them since entering the NFL in 2020, and he had one as a junior at Alabama in 2019. It didn't take long for a chorus of voices to not just express concern for the 26-year-old but question whether he should keep playing at all.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Tagovailoa "has no plans to retire" and he's lining up meetings with specialists to identify the best courses of action moving forward.

The southpaw is coming off a career year in 2023. He led the NFL in passing yards (4,624) and threw for 29 touchdowns to earn his first Pro Bowl nod. He then parlayed that into a $212.4 million extension.

All of the football considerations are taking a back seat, though, due to the gravity of the present situation.
