Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco Leaves Stadium on Crutches, in Walking Boot After Ankle Injury

After suffering an injury against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco will get a diagnosis soon.

Per A to Z Sports' Charles Goldman, head coach Andy Reid said Pacheco injured his ankle on the play that ended his night early and began testing on the injury on Sunday night.

Reid didn't give any indication about the severity of Pacheco's injury. However, per ESPN's Jeff Darlington, Pacheco left the stadium on crutches and in a walking boot.

Pacheco had 90 rushing yards and 21 receiving yards before exiting with the injury. In the Chiefs' Week 1 win against the Baltimore Ravens, he had 45 rushing yards and a touchdown along with 33 receiving yards.

Pacheco led Kansas City in rushing yards a season ago with a career-high 935 yards to go with his career-high seven touchdowns, and he's hoping to have similar success in his third year. A serious ankle injury would certainly throw a wrench in his plans.

The Chiefs are somewhat limited when it comes to depth in the backfield. Kansas City made a late addition to its running back room, signing Samaje Perine in August following his release from the Denver Broncos. Perine had 238 yards and a touchdown with the Broncos in his seventh NFL campaign.

Besides Perine, the Chiefs' only option in the backfield is Carson Steele, who signed with Kansas City after going undrafted. Steele had a solid outing on Sunday with 24 rushing yards on four carries.

The Chiefs would take a major hit to the running back room should Pacheco have to miss any time, so they'll hope whatever injury he sustained on Sunday will be minor.
