Justin Fields' Potential Excites Steelers Fans in Win vs. Broncos amid Wilson Injury

Andrew PetersSep 15, 2024

Justin Fields and the Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-0.

The quarterback led his team to another win on Sunday, beating the Denver Broncos 13-6 a week after taking down the Atlanta Falcons in their season opener. While the end goal for Pittsburgh would likely be to have Russell Wilson on the field, Fields is showing promise through his first two games.

In Sunday's win, he completed 13 of his 20 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown while adding 28 yards on the ground. It was by no means the most impressive offensive performance from Fields or the Steelers, but it was enough to pick up another win.

After the game, Pittsburgh fans expressed excitement about Fields as the starter.

In the Steelers' Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Fields had 156 passing yards on 17-of-23 passing, also collecting 57 yards on the ground. He's played somewhat conservatively through Weeks 1 and 2, which has led to little offense for Pittsburgh, but he's also taking care of the ball which is just as important.

Before the season started, it seemed like Wilson would be the clear starter whenever he was fully healthy, but Fields has made the quarterback competition interesting through the first two games of the year.
