"It's unfortunately looking like that," Saleh told reporters. "We'll confirm it tomorrow, but it doesn't look good."
Johnson went down in the third quarter of the Jets' win over the Titans as he attempted to rush the quarterback. He remained on the field before he was eventually carted off.
Prior to his exit, Johnson recorded two tackles and a tackle for loss. Despite leaving the game due to injury, he still supported his teammates on social media as the Jets earned their first win of the season.
New York's defense suffered multiple injuries on Sunday, as veteran linebacker C.J. Mosley left with a toe injury in the second quarter. Saleh told reporters that the Jets will "hopefully" have him back in Week 3, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
The potential long-term loss of Johnson would be a tough blow to New York's defense, especially after the 25-year-old earned the first Pro Bowl nod of his career in 2023.
He racked up 55 tackles and 7.5 sacks to go along with seven passes defensed through 17 starts last season, including 11 tackles for loss. Johnson was selected by the Jets with a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, appearing in 14 games as a rookie.
With Johnson out, New York's pass rush could be a concern moving forward. Veteran defensive end Haason Reddick still hasn't suited up in a regular-season game for the Jets as he searches for a new contract, missing out on roughly $8 million as he holds out.
Will McDonald and Michael Clemons will now likely take on expanded roles.
