Brock Purdy, 49ers Disappoint NFL Fans in Loss to Vikings with McCaffrey Out Injured
The reigning NFC champions faced a puzzling loss on Sunday.
The San Francisco 49ers lost to the Minnesota Vikings 23-17 as star running back Christian McCaffrey missed his second straight game. In his absence, backup running back Jordan Mason stepped up for another solid game with 100 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Brocky Pudry put together a decent game with 319 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception, but it wasn't enough to get past the Vikings.

Minnesota didn't seem like the biggest threat to take down the 49ers coming into Sunday's matchup, but the Vikings pulled off the upset and left San Francisco fans frustrated on social media.
While Mason has held his own in the backfield with McCaffrey out, there's just no replacing one of the best running backs in the league. Unfortunately for the 49ers, it could be a while before McCaffrey is back on the field, as he could be out for at least six weeks with an Achilles injury.
With the star sidelined for at least a few more weeks, the 49ers will need to learn to use their other pieces and win without McCaffrey. If San Francisco can do that, it could be in a good position to make another Super Bowl run once McCaffrey is back on the field.
Sunday's performance was not a great indication of how the 49ers will play without McCaffrey, though.
