Lions' Aidan Hutchinson Records 5 Sacks vs. Baker Mayfield, Bucs; Amazes NFL Fans
It was Aidan Hutchinson's day on Sunday.
The Detroit Lions star defensive end had his way with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quarterback Baker Mayfield, bringing him down for five sacks in the game. Needless to say, it was a career-high for the third-year player.
After the outburst of sacks, fansโincluding former NFL star JJ Wattโhyped Hutchinson's outstanding performance on social media.
Hutchinson set the tone early on Sunday, recording a pair of sacks within the first five minutes of the game. From there, he never looked back as he brought Mayfield down over and over.
While Hutchinson was two sacks away from the NFL record for sacks in a single game, he became just the second Lion ever to produce a five-sack game, the other being William Gay with 5.5 in 1983.
Hutchinson had a strong second season in the NFL last year, picking up 51 tackles, 11.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception. Based on how his first two games have gone, he seems on his way to making a leap in Year 3.
He's already halfway to his sack mark from a year ago thanks to his huge game on Sunday, and he'll look to continue that dominant production moving forward.
