Malik Nabers Praises Jayden Daniels: I 'Wouldn't Be Here' Without Former LSU Teammate
New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers discussed his LSU connection with Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels ahead of a Week 2 matchup between the two teams.
"Without him, I probably wouldn't be here right now, so having that guy as my quarterback, it took a lot of stress off me, so I took a lot of stress off him too getting open," Nabers told reporters on Thursday (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk). "But we're in a different space right now, but it's still the same game."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Nabers and Daniels were teammates at LSU in 2022 and 2023, as the school finished with a record of 20-7 in their two seasons together. The signal-caller and wide receiver brought out the best in each other, as they developed into the No. 2 and No. 6 overall picks in the 2024 NFL draft, respectively.
Daniels won the 2023 Heisman Trophy after throwing for 40 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions. Meanwhile, Nabers was a finalist for the 2023 Biletnikoff Award by racking up 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns in his final season with the Tigers.
The former college teammates weren't able to help their teams earn victories in Week 1, but they still wrapped up commendable performances to begin their NFL careers. Daniels finished 17-of-24 for 184 yards during a 37-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, adding 88 rushing yards as well as two touchdowns on the ground.
Nabers hauled in five of his seven targets for a team-high 66 yards during the Giants' 28-6 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings.
Daniels and Nabers will now face off against each other on Sunday, as Washington hosts New York. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET.
