Deion Sanders Trolls Rumors About Shedeur's Song, Colorado's Band in New Video

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is jokingly leaning in to rumors, since denied by CU, that he instructed the school's band not to play the Buffaloes fight song so that his son Shedeur Sanders' original music can play when the quarterback scores a touchdown.

When asked by BuffsTV if he had given the Colorado musicians any instructions ahead of next Saturday's upcoming home game against Baylor, Sanders joked at the 24:00 mark of the video below, "You know what, I told the band, don't even bring your instruments.

"I just want you to sing it. Don't even bring your darned instruments. I don't want to hear, or see, an instrument in the whole stadium."

Sanders went on to quip that his control over the stadium went as far as controlling Colorado's live bison mascot.

"Matter of fact, I told Ralphie to run backwards," Sanders said. "I want him to backpedal. From now on, backpedal... and Ralphie cannot perform unless she has on a uniform."

This is not the first time Sanders has pushed back against members of the media. The coach told the Denver Post in August that he would no longer take questions from one of the newspaper's columnists after disputing his coverage of Sanders and the team.

Sanders' latest media conflict stems back to a Denver Sports report, which stated last weekend that Sanders has "told the band they couldn't play" after a Shedeur Sanders touchdown in order for loudspeakers to play the quarterback's own song, "Perfect Timing."

Sanders and Colorado have since denied the report, stating that there was a delay so that other songs could be played following touchdowns by Sanders and field goals by kicker Alejandro Mata during the team's Aug. 29 home opener against North Dakota State, but that the band began playing the school's fight songs after the pauses.

Colorado noted in a statement: "It's common throughout college football for individual players to have small snippets of songs played during games."

Sanders and the Buffaloes have faced criticism since last Saturday, when last season's offensive line flaws seemed to continue as Shedeur Sanders struggled under pressure in a 28-10 loss to rival Nebraska on the road.

Colorado will look to get back on track with another road game on Saturday against Colorado State.
