Video: 49ers' George Kittle Wears Brock Purdy's ISU Helmet After Rivalry Loss to Iowa

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle paid a steep price after his alma mater lost to Iowa State in their annual rivalry game.

The former Iowa star donned a Cyclones helmet to pay off a bet with teammate Brock Purdy, who was a four-year starter at ISU:

Kittle was probably feeling good after Iowa jumped out to a 13-0 halftime lead. But a pair of touchdown passes from Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht made it a five-point game heading into the final quarter.

Kyle Konrardy's 49-yard field goal brought the Cyclones to within score and then he won the game on a 54-yarder with six seconds on the clock.

It was the second time in three years Matt Campbell's squad claimed the Cy-Hawk TrophyCy-Hawk Trophy.

When it came to his bet with Purdy, Kittle probably thought he had as sure a thing as you can get. Iowa reeled off six straight wins from 2015-21, a stretch that included the Hawkeyes taking down Purdy and a ninth-ranked Iowa State in 2021.

Now, Kittle might want to think twice next fall.
