Analysis

Christian McCaffrey takes a slight hit on the trade value chart given some of the uncertainty regarding his injury timeline, but he remains one of the most valuable players in the sport. Assuming this is a short-term issue, he'll return to the top spot soon enough.

On the issue of injuries, the fantasy trade value of players like Jayden Reed and Christian Watson is fascinating so long as Jordan Love is out of action. Malik Willis is his replacement, and his career numbers—350 yards, no touchdowns, three interceptions, a 52.2 completion percentage and a 1-2 record in three career starts—are rough.

It's hard to look at those numbers and believe Reed and Watson will hold the same fantasy value with Willis under center than they did with Love. But that probably makes them long-term, buy-low candidates, since their production is in danger of taking a short-term hit.

Once Love returns, Reed looks like a legitimate WR2 candidate, while Watson's big-play upside could have him in that conversation as well.

So, if you are comfortable with your depth, don't be afraid to buy the dip, especially since the Packers aren't placing Love on injured reserve. Otherwise, your best bet is probably to hold onto both players until Love returns.

The running back market is something of a mess at the moment, with half of the league seemingly in a timeshare. Fantasy players with Travis Etienne Jr. in particular may have an itchy trigger finger on trades after Tank Bigsby received the same amount of carries in Week 1 (12) as Etienne and outrushed him by a yardage margin of 73-44.

Etienne also lost a fumble as he was about to score, though he did have two catches for 15 yards while Bigsby was a non-factor in the passing game.

Buy low on Etienne if given the opportunity. Last season, he had 217 more carries than Bigsby, 876 more rushing yards, nine more rushing scores, 57 more catches, 470 more receiving yards and one more receiving touchdown.

Yes, new seasons can mean altered roles. Bigsby might earn a bigger slice of the pie this season. But don't ditch Etienne for pennies on the dollar after one ho-hum game. And if he isn't on your roster, he's a fantastic buy-low option.
