Raiders Rumors: K'Lavon Chaisson Expected to Land Contract After Panthers Release

After spending the offseason with the Carolina Panthers before his release earlier this month, linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson reportedly has found a new home.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Raiders are expected to sign Chaisson amid injuries to edge-rushers Tyree Wilson and Malcolm Koonce.

Chaisson was the No. 20 pick in the 2020 draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who acquired the selection from the Los Angeles Rams as part of a trade involving star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

After finishing with 19 tackles as a rookie, Chaisson recorded a career-high 31 tackles during the 2021 campaign. Unfortunately, he missed eight games during the 2022 season after being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. The Jaguars decided not to pick up the fifth-year option on Chaisson's rookie contract prior to the 2023 season, and he finished with 13 tackles and two sacks while appearing in all 17 games last year.

Chaisson signed with the Panthers in March and appeared in two out of their three preseason games. He played 29 total snaps on defense and had one tackle. The team released him on Sept. 3.

The Raiders are coming off a 22-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in their season opener. The team's defense allowed 176 yards on the ground, the fourth-highest total in the league in Week 1.

Las Vegas is hoping the addition of Chaisson will help shore up some of the team's deficiencies on defense. The Raiders will try to bounce back when they meet the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
