Fantasy Football Week 2 Rankings: Updated Overview for All Positions
Week 1 in the NFL provided fans some remarkable fantasy performances and set the stage for superstars such Lamar Jackson, A.J. Brown, Cooper Kupp, and Josh Allen to build on their extraordinary showings in favorable Week 2 matchups.
Where do they rank and which players should managers keep their eyes on entering the second week of the 2024 season?
Find out with this fantasy preview, including positional rankings.
Quarterbacks
1 of 5
The Week 2 quarterback rankings are as follows:
- Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
- Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens vs. Las Vegas Raiders
- Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cincinnati Bengals
- Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals
- Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers
- Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons
- CJ Stroud, Houston Texans vs. Chicago Bears
- Jared Goff, Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers at Carolina Panthers
- Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills
There was plenty of fantasy hype surrounding Anthony Richardson entering the season, with many ranking him as a top-10 quarterback for 2024. While some were skeptical, Richardson did a solid job of proving his supporters right.
Against the Houston Texans, Richardson tallied 212 yards and two touchdowns through the air, as well as six rushes, 56 yards, and a touchdown on the ground.
He will have an opportunity to improve on those numbers when he battles a Packers defense that gave up the 10th most points to quarterbacks in Week 1 against Philadelphia.
If there is one thing to keep an eye on with Richardson, it is his completion percentage. Despite his superb numbers against Houston, the second-year QB only completed 47.4 percent of his passes (9-of-19), a statistic that will not hold up over time. He has to do better throwing the ball to maximize his talents.
Running Backs
2 of 5
The Week 2 running back rankings are as follows:
- Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons
- Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers
- Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals
- Derrick Henry, Baltimore Ravens vs. Las Vegas Raiders
- Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles
- Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- De'Von Achane, Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
- Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cincinnati Bengals
- Breece Hall, New York Jets at Tennessee Titans
- Kenneth Walker III, Seattle Seahawks at New England Patriots
Henry's 46 yards did not wow anyone, but the star running back only had 13 carries and still managed to average 3.5 yards. Throw in a touchdown and how comfortable he looked alongside Lamar Jackson in the backfield, and you have plenty of reason to be optimistic about his fantasy output this season.
Enter the Las Vegas Raiders, who gave up 161 yards on the ground in a Week 1 loss to the Chargers and 26.70 fantasy points to opposing running backs.
Henry is better than J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards out in L.A., and if the Ravens can resist the urge to put the entire offensive game plan on Jackson, the former MVP candidate should have a big day at home against a Raiders squad in flux.
Wide Receivers
3 of 5
The Week 2 wide receiver rankings are as follows:
- Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
- Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals
- A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons
- Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions
- Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers
- Garrett Wilson, New York Jets at Tennessee Titans
- Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Nico Collins, Houston Texans vs. Chicago Bears
- Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs
- Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Hill may be the closest thing to an unstoppable force in the game today.
Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the speedster caught seven balls for 130 yards and a touchdown. He scored 19 fantasy points along the way against a fairly solid defense. He averaged 18.6 yards per catch, meaning he both got open down the field and was able to turn on the jets and outrun the opposing defenders.
Buffalo traditionally plays Miami well, but Hill will still get his and have a chance to rank among the top five wideouts in Week 2—with the top spot in the rankings not out of the question.
Based on his play over the past two seasons and a Bills defense that can be leaky in big spots, the No. 1 spot feels appropriate.
Tight Ends
4 of 5
The Week 2 tight end rankings are as follows:
- Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings
- Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams
- Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens vs. Las Vegas Raiders
- Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cincinnati Bengals
- Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
- Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders at Baltimore Ravens
- Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cleveland Browns
- Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens vs. Las Vegas Raiders
- Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles
Travis Kelce was uncharacteristically quiet in the season opener against Baltimore, catching three balls on four targets for 34 yards and no score. Perhaps it says more about the tight end play in the NFL in 2024 than anything, but it was still good enough to finish 14th at his position.
He could see similar numbers against the Bengals in Week 2.
Cincinnati gave up four receptions for 49 yards to New England tight ends Sunday—hardly explosive numbers. While Kelce is absolutely a game-changer, as witnessed in the AFC Championship game against Baltimore and the Super Bowl against San Francisco, he was a slow starter a season ago, too.
Look for him to get back to his prolific stats and fantasy excellence, but not necessarily this week.
