Video: Aaron Rodgers Says 'I Hope' Jets Face 49ers in Super Bowl 59 After MNF Loss

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers would like an opportunity to avenge Monday's 32-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Rodgers called the Niners a "championship-level group" and added that "I hope we see them" in Super Bowl LIX.

Jets fans would obviously love to see New York take the field at Caesars Superdome on Feb. 9, but they might disagree on their desire to have San Francisco on the opposite sideline.

The Niners were a comprehensive victor. They out-gained the Jets 401-266 and had the ball for 38:40. Filling in for an injured Christian McCaffrey, running back Jordan Mason had 147 yards and one touchdown on 28 carries.

If these teams were to meet again, it's difficult to envision a different outcome.

Of course, that might not be a problem because the Jets team that showed up on Monday Night Football isn't going to make a deep playoff run — if it makes the postseason at all.

The defense got pushed around and couldn't keep San Francisco's offense off the field. Running back Breece Hall averaged 3.4 yards per carry. Most concerning, Rodgers was 13-of-21 for 167 yards, one touchdown and an interception in his first game back since tearing his Achilles.

So much of the Jets' hopes rest on Rodgers' shoulders and he looked like a once-elite QB who's no longer at that level because he's 40 years old and coming off a major injury.

It's only Week 1, so there will be plenty of reactions from the opening slate of games that prove to be well wide of the mark in another month or two.

The Jets play the Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings before hosting the Buffalo Bills in Week 6. The schedule gives them a chance to build a lot of momentum ahead of an important AFC East clash and win over their skeptics.
