Dak Prescott 'Happy' $240M Contract is Done: Cowboys Can 'Focus on Winning Games'

Dak Prescott is excited to strictly focus on football.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback signed a four-year, $240 million extension with the team Sunday morning ahead of the teams Week 1 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Following the 33-17 win, Prescott told reporters he was relieved the process was over.

"I'm just happy it's done. … And we can focus on winning games," Prescott said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Prescott had a solid outing in the victory, going 19-of-32 for 179 yards and a touchdown. This came against a Browns defense that was elite in 2023 and will likely give many quarterbacks some headaches throughout the 2024 season.

He is coming off of a strong 2023 season where he threw for 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns and led Dallas to a 12-5 record. He could have been a free agent following the 2024 season but instead becomes the highest-paid player in NFL history and will be with the Cowboys through at least 2028.

The Cowboys will have to carefully manage the salary cap going forward after dishing out massive deals to Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb but locking in the star players is something that should help the franchise going forward.
